Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials during Senate hearings has earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
